Purpose of studies:
To provide students with knowledge of the world of politics, the structures and institutes comprising it and the political processes that take part in it.
Academic program
Academic programs focus on the following five fields of study:Government: comparative study of political institutes and processes, analysis of political systems in different areas worldwide, political behavior (voting, protest and violence, political parties, interest groups and Israeli politics).
- Administration and public policy: administration theory, human resources management, bureaucracy and politics, setting public policy, political economy, structure of Israeli administration system, reforms in public administration, local government, public auditing and organizational behavior.
- International relations and foreign policy: history and theory of International Relations, decision making and shaping of foreign policy, national security and strategy, diplomacy and negotiations, international justice and conflict resolution, international political economy.
- Political theory: foundations of political philosophy, intellectual history, morals and politics, democratic theory, Jewish and Israeli political thought.
- Providing research methods and tools: we consider research methods and tools an important goal of our study program. Our goal is to educate students towards methodological literacy and provide a comprehensive basis for future and more advanced academic studies. In the framework of this program we teach courses in scientific reading and writing (First Year), research methods (Second Year), statistics (Second Year) and courses in qualitative methodology and research seminars to excelling students.
Terms of admission and study program
Terms of admission to the School of Political Sciences are conditional upon compliance with the general terms of admission of the University and the required level by the School. Day studies in the School of Political Sciences are held in a format of dual-major academic track or single-major academic track.
